LONG-TERM CARE CENTERS TO CONDUCT MOCK EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILLS

The MCA Department of Health’s Continuing Care Sector is notifying the community that mock emergency evacuation drills will be taking place at Iakhihsohtha Lodge and the Tsiionkwanonhso Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility.  

The exercises are scheduled for the following dates: 

  • Iakhihsohtha Lodge: September 28, 2026
  • Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-Term Care: October 5, 2026 

The safety, security, comfort, dignity, and well-being of our residents remain our highest priority. The mock evacuation exercises are being conducted as part of our ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness and to ensure both LTCs are ready to respond effectively in the event of a real emergency. 

The purpose of the drills includes the following: 

  • Testing of the emergency evacuation procedures and response plans
  • Evaluating resident evacuation and accountability processes
  • Assessing communication and coordination amongst staff, leadership, emergency responders, and community partners
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement to strengthen resident safety and preparedness 

Please note that these exercises are planned and controlled, and every effort will be made to ensure our residents remain safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the duration of the drills.
