EXPLORING OPPORTUNITIES: STUDENTS ATTEND MCA & SRMT CAREER FAIR

On April 15, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe welcomed students from across the region to the A’nowara’kó:wa Arena for the Indigenous Student Career Fair, a day filled with exploration, connection, and opportunity.

With close to 90 exhibitor tables, students in Grades 7–12 and post-secondary from Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education, Cornwall, Massena, Salmon River, and homeschooling communities had the opportunity to connect directly with professionals from a wide range of fields, from health, human resources, and environment to communications, emergency response, radio broadcasting, and more. Through hands-on conversations and interactive experiences, students explored career paths, discovered new interests, and learned about opportunities within and beyond the community.

Through the Career Passport activity, students engaged with exhibitors throughout the day for a chance to win prizes, including laptops, iPads, headphones, Cineplex certificates, Stanley gear, and more.

Nia:wen to all of the organizations, partners, and volunteers who helped make today a success, and a special thank you to Sip & Scoop for providing refreshments to attendees and staff.

The day was a strong reminder of the bright futures ahead and the many paths available to get there.
