GROWING TRADITION: MCA DONATES TO ONKWE

Bringing tradition and community together, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne proudly presented a $117,636 cheque to Onkwe, honoring their inspiring work to keep traditional teachings strong and growing.

Onkwe, a dedicated group of Onkwehonwe (Original Peoples), continues to breathe life into traditional knowledge passed down through generations. Their work focuses on teaching traditional farming and gardening practices inherited from our elders, guiding families and youth in reconnecting with the land and the values that sustain us.

With every seed planted and every story shared, Onkwe helps our community reconnect with who we are and where we come from. Their work grows more than food, it grows understanding, respect, and a stronger connection to the land and to one another.

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is honored to support Onkwe and their commitment to cultural preservation, community wellness, and the sharing of traditional knowledge for the future of Akwesasne.
