AVATAR RETURNS TO AKWESASNE: LAND-BASED HEALING PROGRAM HOSTS SPECIAL SEASON 2 SCREENING
For the second year in a row, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Land-Based Healing Program, in partnership with the family of Kiawentiio Tarbell, brought the community together for a special screening event celebrating Avatar: The Last Airbender — an evening where storytelling and community came together in perfect balance.
Community members gathered at Aultsville Theatre to watch the first episode of Season 2 before being treated to an exciting surprise. Joining Akwesasne's own Kiawentiio Tarbell, who portrays Katara, were fellow cast members Gordon Cormier (Aang), Ian Ousley (Sokka), and Dallas Liu (Prince Zuko), much to the delight of fans of all ages.
The evening was expertly emceed by CKON Radio's Reen Cook, who kept the audience entertained with fun and engaging questions about the cast's filming experiences and their visit to Akwesasne. Guests learned everything from their favorite moments on set to their favorite ice cream flavours from Sweet Treats!
Following the discussion, community members had the opportunity to ask their own questions before meeting the cast for photos, creating lasting memories for everyone in attendance.
It was an incredible evening for Akwesasne, and our community continues to take great pride in Kiawentiio, her accomplishments, and the remarkable work she is doing on the international stage.
If you haven't already, be sure to check out Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, now streaming on Netflix!
