MCA AND SRMT LAUNCH WILDFIRE RELIEF DONATION DRIVE
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA), in partnership with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT), is inviting Akwesasró:non to come together in support of First Nations communities affected by the devastating northern Ontario wildfires.
As communities across northern Ontario continue to face evacuations and displacement, Akwesasne has an opportunity to stand alongside our brothers and sisters by donating essential supplies to assist those most impacted. Working together, MCA and SRMT will coordinate the collection and transportation of donated items to affected First Nations communities.
Community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used items in good condition, including:

Adult clothing (all sizes and genders)

New undergarments

Non-perishable food items (canned goods, boxed foods, rice, pasta, cereal, etc.)

Bottled water
-
Baby food and infant formula
-
Diapers and baby wipes
-
Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant

Toothbrushes and toothpaste
-
Feminine hygiene products
-
Toilet paper and paper towels
-
New toys, books, colouring books, crayons, and activity kits for children
To help ensure donations can be distributed quickly and efficiently, all clothing should be clean, washed, folded, and organized prior to drop-off. Community members are also asked to check expiry dates on all food donations before donating. Due to limited transportation and storage capacity, we kindly ask that only the requested items be donated.
Donations will be accepted on the following dates from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.:
Tuesday, August 4, 2026 — St. Regis Recreration Center (Parking lot)
Wednesday, August 5, 2026 — Kawehno:ke Recreation Center (Parking lot)
Thursday, August 6, 2026 — Snye Recreation Center (Parking lot)
