MCA WELCOMES NEW YOUTH COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE

On May 15, 2026 Niiostosera:ah Thompson officially joined the Akwesasne Youth Council (AYC) after signing her oath of office, administered by Cactus Cook Sunday, Director of the Akwesasne Justice Department.

The Akwesasne Youth Council provides young leaders with an opportunity to become involved in local governance, advocate for Akwesasne youth, and contribute ideas and recommendations that help shape the future of the community. As a Youth Council Representative, Niiostosera:ah will work alongside fellow representatives Cayde Lazore, Kayanna Jackson, and Taylor Day in carrying out this important work. 

Congratulations to Niiostosera:ah on joining the Akwesasne Youth Council. The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne looks forward to the contributions AYC will make as a unified voice for Akwesasne youth.
