MCA WELCOMES RACHEL LAZARE INTO POLITICAL ADVISOR ROLE
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is pleased to share that Rachel Lazare has been hired to the role of Political Advisor, a newly established position within Mohawk Government that will support Council in advancing its priorities and strengthening intergovernmental relations.
Rachel brings many years of experience with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, having previously worked within the Department of Economic Development in various roles and within the Nation Building Program (Entewatathá:wi) as a Project Manager and Policy Analyst. In these roles, she supported key initiatives, coordinated complex projects, and contributed to the development of governance documents, policies, and strategic communications.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration & Governance from Toronto Metropolitan University and has completed several additional certifications, including an Indigenous Public Policy and Administration Graduate Diploma from Carleton University and Business Executive Education through Harvard Business School, along with further training in public administration and community economic development.
Rachel also previously served as a District Chief for Kana:takon, where she contributed to governance priorities, policy development, and community decision-making. In addition, she has held leadership roles on several boards and committees.
Throughout her career, Rachel has built strong working relationships with federal and provincial partners and has played a key role in advancing Council priorities through collaboration and informed engagement.
Her experience, leadership, and strong understanding of Akwesasne make her well-suited for this role.
