MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS: SOBER OCTOBER ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

The Mental Health & Wellness Sector will be rolling out its Sober October 2026 calendar of events.  Sober October refers to a month-long challenge where people completely abstain from alcohol (similar to Dry January).
Dry January, and other sober-based challenges, consists of people signing up for a no-drinking challenge and participate in activities that are designed to change their habits for a month and make some healthy lifestyle changes.
By going sober, you’re not just helping others, you’re helping yourself. Giving up alcohol and substances for a month comes with tons of feel-good benefits, the movement emphasizes the importance of checking in with yourself about your relationship with alcohol.
Experts have said taking a break from alcohol, even for a month, can improve your overall health, including weight loss, eliminating hangovers, saving money, better sleep, building relationships, and having more free time.
The Mental Health and Wellness Sober October series of events consists of numerous options for safe and sober activities. Please refer to the Sober October calendar to see dates, times, and locations of the events being hosted this month.
Participants in Sober October events will have their names entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the month. Please see the attached calendar of events and flyers for details on Sober October activities.
