STRONG FOUNDATIONS FOR WELLNESS: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS IN ACTION

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week, the MCA Mental Health & Wellness Sector was pleased to provide a professional development session for staff at the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club (ABGC), many of whom support youth across satellite locations throughout the community. 

Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual initiative that highlights the importance of mental health and encourages open conversations about wellbeing. It promotes understanding, reduces stigma, and provides an opportunity to share resources and strategies that support emotional, mental, and physical health for individuals, families, and communities. 

Guest speaker Bharat Oza delivered an engaging and informative workshop on Foundations for Optimal Health and Wellness, highlighting: 

  • A holistic approach to health and well-being
  • The connection between nutrition, the nervous system, and mental/emotional wellness
  • Key hormones that influence overall health
  • Practical strategies to support nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle 

Participants also enjoyed a healthy lunch, generously provided by Happy Eeats.
