HELP SHAPE AKWESASNE’S CHILD RIGHTS LAW: REQUEST AN INFORMATION SESSION FOR YOUR GROUP
The Eniethihswanón:na Working Task Group (WTG) is continuing to connect with Akwesasne offices, community organizations, schools, classrooms, and other groups interested in learning more about the proposed Akwesasne Child Rights and Responsibilities Law and sharing their feedback.
Information sessions can be arranged for groups that would like to learn more about the draft law and participate in the consultation process. Community members who would like to share their own experiences or personal knowledge may also request a private session, and the WTG will do its best to accommodate their needs.
This outreach is part of Phase III of the Akwesasne Legislative Enactment Procedural Regulation (ALEPR), during which community members are encouraged to share their comments, questions, and concerns regarding the current draft law.
To date, the WTG has completed the required Focus Meeting and three District Community Consultation Sessions. The group has also held six additional sessions with departments, schools, and committees, and attended ten community events, including the Akwesasne Art Market, to share information and answer questions.

Community feedback remains an important part of the law development process. The WTG looks forward to continuing these discussions and invites organizations, offices, schools, committees, other groups, and individuals to reach out if they would like to schedule an information session.
