Daytox is a community-based outpatient substance abuse recovery program for Akwesasne community members looking to gain skills and tools for recovery and relapse prevention.

Daytox will give you a safe space to explore your triggers, patterns and behaviours related to your addiction. Through our multifaceted approach, you will learn and apply skills and tools to manage cravings and triggers. Daytox provides a supportive community of professionals and peers to help you remain on track with accountability and emotional support.

Meditation and walks offer simple ways to support mental and emotional wellbeing during recovery.

Meditation can help participants manage emotions, improve focus, and develop greater mental clarity, while spending time outdoors and walking can provide a calming change of environment and help reduce stress and emotional distress.

Together, these activities provide opportunities to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and support your overall wellbeing.

This activity brings together Indigenous teachings and 12 Steps principles to support reflection, personal growth, and recovery.

Participants will explore teachings related to balance, wellness, values, relationships, responsibility, and personal growth, while considering how these teachings can be applied to their own recovery journey. The Medicine Wheel provides a framework for exploring different aspects of wellbeing, while 12 Steps teachings offer opportunities to reflect on personal values, choices, relationships, and the steps involved in creating positive change.

Together, these teachings provide a culturally grounded space for participants to explore their connection to themselves, others, their community, and their recovery.

Guided journaling and vision boarding offer creative and reflective ways for participants to explore their thoughts, feelings, goals, and hopes for the future.

Through guided prompts and journaling exercises, participants can process emotions, identify triggers and patterns, and develop a deeper understanding of their experiences. Vision boarding provides an opportunity to bring those reflections to life by creating a visual representation of personal goals, values, aspirations, and the future they want to work toward.

Together, these activities encourage self-reflection, creativity, and goal-setting while helping participants recognize their strengths and build a positive vision for their recovery journey.

The Sober Support Group provides a safe and supportive space for participants to connect with others who understand the challenges and experiences of recovery.

Through shared experiences, conversation, and peer support, participants can build a sense of community and belonging while gaining encouragement and accountability. Groups may also provide opportunities to share strategies for managing triggers and cravings, building healthy habits, and navigating challenges throughout the recovery journey.

Tai Chi is a gentle, mindful form of movement that combines slow, intentional movements with breathing and focus.

As part of Daytox programming, Tai Chi provides an opportunity to support physical wellbeing, reduce stress, practice mindfulness, and strengthen the connection between the mind and body during recovery.

Rooted in the wisdom of circle and Haudenosaunee teachings, Strengthening Our Fire is a holistic coaching journey focused on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

Participants will explore their strengths, gifts, relationships, sense of purpose, and personal wellness while identifying areas for growth. Through a safe, supportive, and culturally respectful space, participants can reconnect with their inner wisdom, strengthen their sense of identity and belonging, and build a path forward that reflects their values and aspirations.

Join us as we gather, learn, and strengthen our fire together.
