TSIIONKWANONHSO:TE CELEBRATES THE RETIREMENT OF VELMA COOK
The Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-Term Care (LTC) facility gathered today to celebrate and say a heartfelt goodbye to one of its longest-serving and most cherished staff members, Velma Cook, as she begins her well-earned retirement.
Velma dedicated more than 35 years of service to MCA’s long-term care facilities, supporting our totas in a variety of roles throughout her career at both Iakhihsohtha Lodge and the Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-Term Care facility. Most recently, Velma served in the LTC Housekeeping Department, where her care and attention helped create a warm and welcoming home for residents and staff alike.
Known for her kindness and genuine connection with the totas, Velma was a constant, comforting presence throughout the facility. She could often be found stopping to visit with residents, sharing stories, laughter, and moments that meant so much to those she cared for.
In appreciation of her many years of service, Velma was treated to a special luncheon featuring Chinese food, a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and a gift bag filled with thoughtful goodies — all made possible through the generosity and gratitude of her coworkers.
While the staff at Tsiionkwanonhso:te will truly miss seeing Velma each day, they wish her nothing but happiness, relaxation, and joy as she begins this next chapter.
Happy retirement, Velma! Thank you for everything, and enjoy your days ahead — you’ve earned them.
