OVS POP-UP LOCATIONS FOR LAMINATED STATUS CARDS AND SECURE CERTIFICATE FOR INDIAN STATUS CARDS

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Office of Vital Statistics (OVS) will be offering five pop-up locations for laminated status card renewals and applications for Canada’s Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) cards. 

SCIS cards simplify border crossings by serving as secure, scannable identification at ports of entry between Canada and the U.S. 

Appointments are required, with 11 spots available per session. To schedule an appointment, please call 613-575-2250 ext. 1013 or email ovsclerk@akwesasne.ca. 

Please bring a valid piece of identification, such as driver’s license or passport. 

The cost to renew a laminated status card is $10, or $5 if you bring your expired card. There is no fee to apply for a SCIS card.

Please note: Individuals who have already been issued a valid status number are eligible to apply for a SCIS card. The SCIS cards are not issued on-site; applications are forwarded to a secure processing facility, and completed cards are mailed directly to applicants.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please notify the OVS office as soon as possible so your appointment slot can be made available to another community member.

NOTE: Appointments are also available at the main OVS office, located at CIA #3 on Kawehno:ke (Monday-Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.).
