RFP: LEGAL COUNSEL SERVICES
The Akwesasne Justice Department is seeking qualified legal counsel to support the review, analysis, and amendment of existing laws within the Akwesasne jurisdiction. This initiative is rooted in our commitment to uphold natural justice and ensure our legal frameworks reflect the evolving needs and values of the Akwesasne community.
Scope of Work:
- Comprehensive review of current laws
- Drafting culturally informed legal amendments
- Facilitating community engagement
- Supporting finalization and implementation
Contract Term: Until March 31, 2026
Compensation: Total of $35,000, disbursed in monthly payments upon invoice
Submission Deadline: October 7, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
Interested applicants must submit a Letter of Interest and a Proposal in Word or PDF format, including relevant experience, approach, and proof of professional status in Ontario and Quebec.
