COMMUNITY HEALTH ANNOUNCES WALK-IN OPEN COVID-19 VACCINE CLINIC AT A’NOWARA’KO:WA ARENA

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Community Health Program is informing the community that an open walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic has been scheduled for February 2, 2022 at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena in the district of Kawehno:ke. The vaccine clinic will be open to anyone age 5 and over.

The open vaccine clinic will offer pediatric doses for those age 5-11. Pediatric doses will be administered the Pfizer vaccine. First and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be offered for ages 12-17. First, second, and third doses of Pfizer and Moderna will be administered for ages 18 and up. While it is possible to mix vaccines, it is highly suggested to remain with the same dose as your previous shots.

Out of an abundance of caution, Ontario has issued a preferential recommendation of the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for individuals under the age of 30, based on the current available analysis from Ontario’s adverse events following immunization (AEFI) surveillance system. Should individuals aged 18 to 29 wish to receive Moderna, they can continue to do so with informed consent.

The open vaccine clinic is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena in Kawehno:ke. You must bring proof of your previous doses (if attending for second or third dose). Appointments are encouraged, but not required.

Any individuals under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when receiving their COVID-19 vaccine.

If you have any questions, require more information, or would like to book an appointment, please contact the Community Health Program at 613-575-2341 ext. 3220.
