KANA:TAKON WATER & ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATES

Beginning May 5, 2023, Lazore’s Construction will be mobilizing to begin the final phase of the Park Street/Hilltop Road Project in Kana:takon (St. Regis). They will be starting with curbing formwork at the end of Park St. (Near the cemetery) and will make their way west towards the corner bend. 
 
To accommodate the proposed construction, various lane reductions and alternating traffic and/or detours can be expected. Access to the recreation and other facilities and private properties will be maintained throughout the construction period. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will also be maintained. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic through the site.
 
The anticipated completion date for this project is June 2023.
 
The contractor will take every precaution to minimize interruptions but there may be some inconvenience during construction. We would like to thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation.

PROJECT NOTICE: TO THE RESIDENTS OF WADE LAFRANCE MEMORIAL ROAD, WHOVILLE ROAD & HAWTHORNE LANE (TSI SNAIHNE, QUEBEC)

The MCA Department of Infrastructure, Housing, and Environment is advising the residents of Wade Lafrance Memorial Road, and surrounding areas, that the road reconstruction project will be mobilizing for Phase 2 starting August 22nd, 2022. The general hours of operation will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily. The project is currently planned to work up to November 2022.

During activity, commuters can expect partial road closures to single-lane traffic. Drivers are urged to use extra caution when driving through construction zones; be aware of on-site workers; obey posted construction signs; and follow the direction of traffic control personnel. Please also be aware of potential dangers to pets and pedestrians. All safety measures and precautions are planned as part of the project for its duration.

August 6, 2021:

DIHE TO BEGIN WATER AND SEWER WORK IN KANA:TAKON
PHASE 1 — HILLTOP DRIVE:
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment (DIHE) will commence works to address deficiencies in the sanitary sewer, storm sewer and ditches, and watermain, by the reconstruction of Hilltop Drive & Park Street within the District of Kana:takon (St. Regis). The construction has been awarded to Lazore’s Construction and will be arranged to provide the least disruption to the local community as possible. It is being done in two phases to allow traffic route detours that will be required for the duration of each phase of the project (2021/2022).

Hilltop Drive is the first phase of 570 meters of road/watermain reconstruction. Early stages of the project are to include virtual information sessions (via Zoom) with the community; these sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 12 at 4:30 p.m. The mobilization of contractor equipment, with installation of temporary fencing and safety precaution signage, is expected to begin on Monday, August 16. It is anticipated that the work on Phase 1 will be completed in November 2021.

PHASE 2 — PARK STREET:
Park Street is the second phase of 420 meters of road reconstruction that will follow the same methods of construction as the first phase, but will be started in early Spring 2022 and completed within the year 2022.
