Roadwork Planned in Kawehno:ke Corridor

The Seaway International Bridge Corporation has awarded Contract 5 – Kawehno:ke Bridge Corridor Construction to Cornwall Gravel.  This contract includes improvements and construction along the International Road corridor itself from the current “crossroads” intersection, up to the low-level bridge.

This phase of reconstruction is expected to take nine months with completion next spring. There are no expected road closures planned; however, travelers and residents should be prepared for some delays when the roadway is decreased to single lanes. A traffic plan will be in place to reduce delays as much as possible and shall include access for emergency vehicles, with coordination between the SIBC, Delormier Construction, and Cornwall Gravel.

This fall, work will extend to the north channel bridge itself with plans to replace the current west-side rail with a higher rail.

SIBC will continue to work closely and collaborate with MCA’s Department of Technical Services and Emergency Measures during this construction project to ensure public safety.

Thank you for your patience and please drive with care.
