BOOKMARKS, BOOKS, BOOKED

On Saturday, April 12, the MCA Environment Program hosted a Black Ash Bookmark Workshop with Carrie Hill of Chill Baskets, where participants got hands-on and crafted their own traditional bookmarks from black ash — just in time for some new spring reads!

Five lucky bookworms also went home with a book by an Indigenous author! The day included catering by Three Feathers Internet Cafe and a fun round of Tree Trivia, where attendees tested their knowledge about the Black Ash tree and the invasive Emerald Ash Borer. There was also a meaningful discussion on the challenges our local black ash population is facing — an important conversation rooted in culture and community.

Looking for your next read? We highly recommend adding one (or all!) of these titles to your TBR list. And if a winner’s in your family…maybe book a visit and borrow a copy. 😉
