AMBE CULTURAL CELEBRATION KICKS OFF

Today, the Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education launched the first round of its annual Cultural Celebration — and our youngest learners lit up the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena! The gym echoed with laughter and tiny footsteps as students from the Early Years and Grades 1–3 sang, danced, and celebrated our Onkwehonwe culture through music, movement, and traditional dress.

As a special highlight, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne was joined by Canada’s Minister of Public Safety, Sathiyasangaree “Gary” Anandasangaree, for a community tour — and made a stop at the arena to witness the celebration and experience the strength and beauty of our culture firsthand.

Nia:wen to the singers, drummers, organizers, parents, and everyone who helped bring this joyful event to life — and a big thanks to our friends at the Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance Unit and Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service for joining us and helping keep our little ones safe.

The celebration continues next week with our older students — stay tuned!
