UNITY IN ACTION: AMBE STUDENTS LEAD THE WAY

Today, the Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education hosted its very first Middle School Unity Day — a celebration of togetherness, wellness, and fun at Generations Park!

Grade 6, 7, and 8 students from all district schools came together for a day filled with kickball, lacrosse, basketball, cornhole, arts and crafts, and more. One special activity — the Unity Basket — gave students the chance to reflect on what unity means to them by sharing their thoughts along with their name, grade, and school.

But the most inspiring part? This day was sparked and steered by students themselves. The idea began with members of the Tentewaienáhsheke Student Leadership team, who turned their vision into reality — planning the day, organizing the activities, and even writing and submitting a grant to help bring it all to life. Their dedication shows what’s possible when student voices lead the way.

The event even featured a special performance by Uncle Bubba, adding to the day’s excitement and good vibes.

Nia:wen to the students, staff, and community partners who made this day possible. Here’s to many more Unity Days ahead!
