NOTICE OF TENDER: TSI SNAIHNE BIRCH ROAD WATERMAIN CONSTRUCTION & DOMESTIC WATER SERVICE CONNECTIONS

TENDER FOR CONTRACT 2019-001 BIRCH ROAD RECONSTRUCTION

Tenders, sealed in envelopes and clearly marked as to the contents, will be received by Mr. Joe Francis, Acting Director of Technical Services, Akwesasne Technical Services Unit, Administration Building No. 3, Cornwall Island, Ontario K6H 5T3, Telephone (613) 936-1548, until:

11:00 a.m. local time  July 5, 2019

for the construction of the works described below.

On the same day, commencing at 11:05 a.m. local time, the tenders will be opened and read publicly at the Cornwall Island Administration Office #3 on Cornwall Island.

The work consists of 150mm dia. watermain construction on Birch Road from Border Road intersection to the end of Birch Road (approx. 275m). Disturbed road surface areas to be restored to existing conditions, water services to be installed to existing residential units on the road (approx. 5), complete with interior connections, existing well capping, and entrance culvert replacements.

Plans, specifications and tender forms may be obtained from Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Cornwall Island Administration Building No. 3, Cornwall Island, Ontario.

Tenders must be accompanied by a tender deposit payable to the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne as follows:

·       for First Nations contractors in the form of a certified cheque, bank draft or money order in the amount of 10% of the total tender price to a maximum of $20,000;

·       for all other contractors as a Bid Bond for an amount equal to 10% of the total tender price.

Evaluation of all tenders will follow the Tendering Policy of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, which is intended to increase the participation of local and other Aboriginal businesses in construction and materials supply contracting.

Tenders are subject to a formal contract being prepared and executed. The Council reserves the right to reject any or all tenders and the lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

FATHER’S DAY FAMILY KICKBALL

3RD ANNUAL LITTLE HEROES SAFETY TRAINING CAMP & OBSTACLE RACE

Calling all superheroes — join us on Friday, June 7 from 5 PM – 8 PM at the Kana:takon Recreation Center for a chance to learn some tips on everything from water safety, sun safety, road safety to environment safety and cyber safety in superhero style!

There will be hero certification once all booths are visited, as well as a cape making and photo booth for superhero selfies!

The obstacle races are for kids ages 2 and older. Don’t forget to wear your superhero costume!

PREPARING OUR HOME WORKSHOP

The Akwesasne Youth Council would like to invite youth ages 15-29 to take part in a workshop centered around emergency preparedness, disaster risk education and climate change action in our community. 

This workshop is an opportunity for Akwesasronon youth to develop their leadership skills and learn how to utilize traditional knowledge when preparing for an emergency!

CELEBRATE EMS WEEK

The Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance will be celebrating Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week from May 20 – 24, 2019.  EMS Week is a yearly event that is focused on educating the public about emergency medical services and to bring attention to an important part of emergency medicine. It is an opportunity to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our communities!
