Hydro Quebec Not Charging Reconnection of Power Fees

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne would like to inform the community that Hydro Quebec will no longer be charging a $50 fee for the reconnection of power due to arrears (late/missed payments).

Hydro Quebec installed the New Generation (Communicating) meters in 2016; this eliminates the need for a Hydro Quebec agent to physically reconnect power during the disconnection season.

The new meters are on a router system whereby it is done remotely; therefore, Hydro does not require the services of an agent on site.

If the customer has an older digital or mechanical meter (392JD or 392J), there will be an option to have a G9 (communicating) meter at no charge.

If the customer requests the X9 (Non-communicating) meter the installation charge of $85 will apply and the customer will be charged a nominal fee of $2.50/month for meter reading of the X9 meter.

For more information please contact Hydro Quebec at 1-800-790-2424.
