FNCFS HOME REPAIR PROGRAM

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment is pleased to launch the First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) Home Repair Program — an initiative designed to support Akwesasne families with essential home repairs.

This program is available to community members living with children under 18 who need critical repairs to their primary residence, such as:

  • Mold remediation
  • Roof or siding replacement
  • Furnace upgrades
  • Insulation installation

  • HRV systems and more

The Housing Sector will manage this program to address necessary repairs (not cosmetic improvements), with a maximum of $15,000 per civic address.

📋 Program Criteria:

  • Must be the head of household

  • Primary residence only

  • Must reside within MCA jurisdiction in the northern portion of Akwesasne

  • Must be in good standing with the DIHE Housing Sector

  • Proof of income is required

  • Applicants are responsible for any costs beyond the $15,000 maximum

Application Deadline: June 13, 2025

The goal of the program is to make homes safer and more comfortable for families — ensuring access to heat, water, electricity, and healthy living conditions for our children. Priority will be given to families who have previously applied and not yet received assistance.
