SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED; LOCAL MALE ARRESTED

Kawehno:ke, Akwesasne – On Saturday, February 15, 2025, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence on Martin Road, Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island).

 

The warrant was issued following an investigation conducted by the Akwesasne Organized Crime Unit.

 

During the search, police seized items related to the investigation. Peter Martin, 50, was arrested on multiple firearms-related charges under the Criminal Code, including:

  • Firearm careless use or storage S. 86(2) CCC
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm S. 91(1) CCC
  • Possession of firearm knowing possession unauthorized S. 92(1) CCC
  • Possession of firearm/weapon contrary to order / Failure to surrender documents S. 117.01(1) CCC 
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm S. 91 (2) CCC
  • Possession of firearm knowing possession unauthorized S. 92(2) CCC

 

Martin was taken into custody and scheduled to appear in Cornwall Provincial Court. A bail hearing was held on February 20, 2025, and he was released on $6,000 cash bail. He is set to reappear in Cornwall Provincial Court on March 13, 2025.
