US CUSTOMS GIVES UPDATE ON BORDER WAIT TIMES

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has provided an update on anticipated increased wait times for the month of September 2022. From now until September 30, 2022, CBP’s Office of Field Operation (OFO) expects potential increases in border wait times due to necessary and operational adjustments to close out the fiscal year; these adjustments have also affected the Massena Port of Entry, which could affect wait times for local travelers.

Earlier this year, international travel began to resume, increasing the demand for officers at each port of entry operated by CBP. COVID-related staffing shortages also contributed to the increased wait times at ports of entry. National budgetary constraints continue to contribute to wait times at ports of entry across the country, including the Massena Port of Entry.

CBP continues to shift resources to balance operations amongst the various ports of entry currently operating while continuing to maintain their limited budget. CBP will do its best to keep wait times to a minimum for local and international travelers.
