AKWESASNE CELEBRATES NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY

It was a beautiful day to be Indigenous and Akwesasne was in the mood to celebrate!
 
June 21 was National Indigenous Peoples Day and events were held across the community in honor and observance. Many Akwesasronon and friends from surrounding areas flocked to Kawehno:ke for celebrations at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena and the Native North American Travelling College.
There were lots of smiles, corn soup, and strawberry drink to go around!
 
Niawenhkó:wa to our attendees, vendors, cultural demonstrators, singers, dancers, and staff who made it a fun day of celebrating our heritage for all to enjoy.
