The Akwesasne Membership Board has requested that an election be held for all positions on the Board.

DISTRICT OF TSI SNAIHNE:

DISTRICT OF KANA:TAKON:
One 2-Year Term Board Member
One 4-Year Term Board Member
One Chairperson (4-Year Term)

DISTRICT OF KAWEHNO:KE:
One 2-Year Term Board Member
One 4-Year Term Board Member
One Chairperson (4-Year Term)

Nominations will be held from the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 21 at the following locations:
• Tsi Snaihne — Tsi Snaihne Recreation Center
• Kana:takon — Kana:takon Recreation Center
• Kawehno:ke — Tri-District Elders Lodge

Pursuant with Section 6 of the Akwesasne Membership Board Election and By-Election Regulations; to be an eligible candidate for the Akwesasne Membership Board, one must:
a) be at least twenty-five (25) years of age on the nomination date; and
b) be a member; and
c) must be Onwkehonwe and at least one (1) of their natural parents must be a Member of Akwesasne; and
d) must reside in the Territory of Akwesasne for at least ten (10) consecutive years prior to their nomination; and
e) the candidate for Board Member from a District, must reside in that District for at least one (1) year immediately prior to their nomination; and
f) must not have been dismissed from the Membership Board in the last four (4) years prior tot their nomination; and
g) must consent and provide criminal record information at least fifteen (15) days prior to the election; and
h) must not have been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada or a felony in the United States within ten (10) years prior to their nomination.

An election, if needed, will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Advance Polls will be held on Wednesday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 22 by appointment only.
