AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SERVICE PREPARES FOR CRIME PREVENTION WEEK 2019

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service is kicking off Crime Prevention Week from November 3-9, 2019. The theme for this year is: Preventing Crime, Protecting People. This theme focuses on the important role of law enforcement organizations in working with individuals and groups in their communities to promote crime prevention.

The goal of Crime Prevention Week is to promote safety in our community and learn to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

This year, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service will introduce a draft of a new Neighborhood Watch Program which will highlight the importance of preventing crimes and keeping our community safe.

Information sessions will take place throughout the community during Crime Prevention Week.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service will also be promoting the “Lock It or Lose It” campaign throughout the Canadian portion of Akwesasne. Police officers will examine parked vehicles to confirm they are locked and no valuables have been left in plain view. Police will place a notice on the vehicle indicating what safety precautions were neglected and offer simple prevention tips for drivers to protect their vehicles against theft. The notices also congratulate drivers who have secured their vehicle and documents properly.

Please contact the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service and ask to speak with Constable Norman King for more information on Crime Prevention Week 2019.
