AMPS RECOVERS STOLEN PROPERTY FROM RESIDENCE IN TSI SNAIHNE

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) received information of a suspect vehicle involved in a number of reported thefts in the surrounding area.

On July 21, 2021, police located a vehicle matching the description parked at a residence in Tsi Snaihne (Snye). Police attended the residence and discovered two vehicles on the property that were reported stolen from the area. Police also seized a number of vehicle license plates that had been expired. Two suspects fled from the scene on a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) which was also believed to be stolen.

On July 25, 2021, Police received information that the suspect UTV was towing a trailer with lawn equipment on the US portion of Akwesasne. Police located the suspect UTV leaving a residence in Tsi Snaihne and attempted a vehicle stop. The UTV fled from police at a high rate of speed. Police returned to the residence and recovered a trailer and lawn equipment. The property was turned over to the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police.

On July 25, 2021, police received information of a reported stolen vessel parked near the shoreline at a residence in Tsi Snaihne. Police attended the area and recovered the stolen vessel from the property.
