Boat Registration Validation

The Conservation Program would like to inform the community that it is conducting a review of its existing boat registry. The Conservation program is requesting any resident who has had a boat registered with MCA to call and verify that:

  • ownership info is still valid;
  • the registered boat still exists with a registered member;
  • boat and motor info still matches

To assist with this review, which should only take a few minutes of your time, please contact our summer student Kamryn Ransom at the Justice Department at 613-575-2250 ext. 2400. Any changes in information will require a reprint of the registration at a cost of $5 per reprint.

Any Member of the Mohawks of Akwesasne may register a boat with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Conservation Program. The cost is $5 and a form is available at the Justice Office in Kanatakon to fill out. All that is required is a bill of sale and all the boat and motor info.

“AKW” registration is provided as a courtesy to the people of Akwesasne, any unregistered or impersonation of a legally registered watercraft will be treated as any unregistered vehicle would. Owners of these vessels violating or fraudulently using unregistered numbers can face fines and/or seizure of their watercraft.
