CBSA SEEKING YOUTH ARTWORK FOR PORT OF ENTRY

Through the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne & Canada Border Services Agency Border Collaboration Initiative (BCI), CBSA is seeking artwork from Akwesasne youth to display on a rotating basis at the Cornwall Port of Entry.  The artwork will help travelers and visitors learn more about Akwesasne and its history, while recognizing the Mohawk people for their rich and vibrant culture of today.

We invite all youth ages 6-16 to submit a painting, drawing or graphic which represents Akwesasne history and culture in their eyes.  There are no specific requirements as to size or medium. We look forward to the variety of personal preferences and artist creativity.

The BCI representatives, including both MCA & CBSA staff, will select 12 entries to be displayed at the port of entry.  The artwork will also be showcased in a non-profit calendar. Each artist whose work is selected will receive an appreciation gift of $100.

As recognition for every artist’s time and effort, all entries received for this initiative will be showcased on social media.

Please submit artwork by July 1, 2023 either in person at the CBSA Cornwall Port of Entry, or by email to MCA Representative Shannon Roundpoint: shannon.roundpoint@akwesasne.ca. Any questions may also be sent to this address.
