COMMUNITY HEALTH TO OFFER MODERNA BIVALENT COVID-19 BOOSTER

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Community Health Program would like to inform the community that they will be offering Moderna’s bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine to the high-risk groups identified below.

As of September 12, 2022, the Ontario Ministry of Health has recommended that members of our vulnerable populations receive their fall COVID-19 bivalent booster dose, regardless of the number of Boosters received.

The bivalent Moderna booster provides protection against the original SARS-CoV-2 virus from 2019 and the Omicron (BA.1) variant.

The high-risk groups are as follows:

  • Adults 18 years and older who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis and their non-Indigenous household members aged 18 years and older;
  • Residents of long-term care homes, retirement homes, Elder Care Lodges, and individuals living in other congregate settings that provide assisted-living and health services;
  • Healthcare workers aged 18 years and older.

To make an appointment for the upcoming clinics, please call the MCA Community Health Program at 613-575-2341 ext. 3220.
