DIH INTRODUCES ABRAHAM FRANCIS AS PROGRAM MANAGER OF ENVIRONMENT

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Department of Infrastructure and Housing is pleased to introduce the new Program Manager for the Environment Program. Abraham Francis, deer clan from Akwesasne and son of Kathy “Kati” Herne and the late Abraham “Saronia” Francis, is excited to start his position.

Francis, who has a BS in Microbiology and MS in Natural Resources from Cornell University, was the previous Environmental Science Officer in the Environment Program. As the new program manager, Abraham has new insights for the program that would include the development of environmental partnerships, innovative methodologies and to continue to develop research projects to address and promote community concerns through environmental means. Environment also includes the Conservation Program, which offers specific services.

Francis noted that he and his team “want to ensure that our future generations have access to clean land, water and resources. I am looking forward to the hard efforts my team will be putting in for the betterment of Akwesasronon.”

Leslie Papineau, who is the acting Director for the DIH expressed that, “we are excited to have Abraham on board leading the Environment Program. We are looking forward to continuing to work with him and we know that he will continue to produce great work!”
