FLU SHOTS FOR 2020-2021 SEASON
The MCA Community Health Program is excited to announce the launch of the 2020-2021 Universal Influenza Immunization Program (also known as the ‘flu shot’).
Influenza vaccine is available for all individuals six months of age and older who live, work, or go to school in Akwesasne, especially groups at high risk and those capable of transmitting influenza to them.
To reduce the risk of severe illness that could potentially arise from co-infection with COVID-19 and influenza, individuals who are at high risk of severe COVID-19-related illness, or those capable of transmitting influenza to those at high risk of severe and critical illness related to COVID-19, are particularly recommended to receive the influenza vaccine this fall.
With current COVID-19 restrictions, our community clinics will be slightly different than those in previous years. This year, we are offering the flu vaccine by appointment only at the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility in Kana:takon.
Anyone with mild illness must wait until they are symptom-free to schedule their appointment.
All clinics will be at the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health and Social Facility. You must arrive on time as you will only be allowed into the facility at your appointment time. If you are more than 5 minutes late, you will be re-scheduled. No exceptions.
