HOUSING PAYMENT OPTIONS
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Infrastructure & Housing hopes you and your family have been safe during these unprecedented times. The Housing sector, formerly the Dept. of Housing, is now open for regular hours and able to take your payments as well as answer any questions or concerns you may have. The Housing office has moved to the CIA #3 Building on Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) – 101 Tewesateni Rd., Akwesasne, Ontario.
MCA has made a few changes in procedures for accepting payments or visitors at MCA buildings.
The following options are available when making a payment:
• E-TRANSFER. The email address is etransfer@akwesasne.ca. Please include your name and the purpose of payment. Example: Rent.
• DEBIT/CREDIT CARD (VIA PHONE). Payments can be taken over the phone through the Finance Office. Please call them at 613-575-2250.
• DEBIT/CREDIT CARD (IN-PERSON). Payments can be made at the Finance office, located at Admin. 4 in Kana:takon.
• CASH. Although we accept cash, we are trying to limit our face-to-face contact; therefore, the first three options are encouraged.
Before visiting our buildings, please call in advance for an appointment to see if someone is available to assist you. Our building’s access is limited/closed, and walk-ins are not permitted. When visiting our buildings please practice the current guidelines provided by MCA Department of Health. This includes wearing a mask, washing hands, and maintaining a 6-foot/2-metre distance between other people.
Please note the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne recently lifted the suspension on evictions (due to non-payment of rent), renters in arrears must pay their accounts up to date.
Contact our office ASAP to make suitable arrangements if your account needs to be brought up to date. Failure to do so could lead to eviction, and our staff wish to assist you in avoiding that unfortunate result. We can be reached at 613-575-2250 ext. 1052.
