MCA RESCINDS PROOF OF VACCINATION MCR

PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURES REMAIN ACTIVE

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is informing the community that they have rescinded Mohawk Council Resolution (MCR) 2021/2022 – #183, removing “proof of vaccination” requirements for any public event held within a Mohawk Council of Akwesasne facility. Public health measures will remain in place, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, sanitizing, and disinfecting. MCA’s Department of Health (DOH) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will continue to monitor any impacts COVID-19 has on the community during this reopening period.

With the removal of the proof of vaccination requirement, community recreation facilities are able to open under normal capacity (100%) for patrons, spectators, volunteers, and workers. Proof of vaccination will no longer be required to access and utilize MCA facilities and recreation centers. Event plans will no longer be required to be submitted to the EOC. Recreation centers will have to continue to enforce public health measures which include mask-wearing when accessing the recreation centers, screening for COVID-19 symptoms for those entering the facilities, sanitizing and disinfecting, and social distancing (except for couples of families from the same household/family unit).
