MCA THANKS COMMUNITY FOR DONATIONS TO WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE

From November 22nd through December 2nd, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Human Resources Program took the initiative to run a community-wide winter clothing drive. Donations of cold weather gear and miscellaneous winter items were collected, then distributed to the public at Kana:takon School on December 3rd.

The HR office would like to say niawenhkó:wa to all of the volunteers and staff who made this event happen! Much appreciation to Collin Sunday for devoting his time to picking up donations and to the following places for being drop-off locations: Akwesasne Homemakers, Iohahi:io Akwesasne Education & Training Institute, Cedar View Golf Club, Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility, Jordan’s Principle office, Office of Vital Statistics, MCA Admin. 1 and Admin. 3.

Thanks to the generosity of Akwesasronon, we received so many items that there was still a lot left after the distribution day! We were happy to share the remaining donations with various programs in the community, such as some of the Akwesasne Child Care Centres, AMBE schools, the Akwesasne Family Wellness Program, and the Three Sisters Community Advocacy Program. We wish everyone happy holidays and a warm winter season!
