NON-INSURED PROGRAM ACQUIRES NEW MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION VAN

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s (MCA) Non-Insured Health Benefits (ANIHB) is informing the community that the Medical Transportation Program has acquired a new medical transportation vehicle. NIHB was granted a 2021 Ram Pro-Master low-roof, side-entry conversion van.

The new vehicle is capable of transporting two wheelchair-bound clients with additional seating to accommodate four passengers at a time. The new vehicle provides a more comfortable ride for clients who require longer travel distances to receive medical care in the Ottawa and Montreal areas.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this for our community and clients,” said Melanie Gibson, Program Manager for ANIHB. “We look forward to ensuring our clients’ comfort, safety, and peace of mind when having to travel for medical appointments.”

ANIHB’s Medical Transportation Program is still operating under the current COVID-19 regulations which limit the number of passengers that are currently allowed in the vehicle at one time. Once limitations have been lifted, the program can begin offering more clients medical transport in a single trip.
