NOTICE OF TENDER: KANA:TAKON PARK ST & HILLTOP DR RECONSTRUCTION

Tenders, sealed in envelopes and clearly marked as to the contents, will be received by Ms. Lorraine Bova, Director, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Department of Infrastructure and Housing, Administration Building No. 3, Cornwall Island, Ontario K6H 5T3, Telephone (613) 936-1548, until: 

11:00 a.m., Local Time, July 8th, 2021 

for the construction of the works described below.   

On the same day, commencing at 11:05 a.m. local time, the tenders will be opened and read publicly at the Cornwall Island Administration Office #3 on Cornwall Island. 

The project is phased construction with both phases consisting of full road reconstruction and infrastructure upgrades and improvements for both Park Street and Hilltop Drive in Kana:takon.  

The first phase Identified as Hilltop Road is scheduled to be completed now, then followed by Park Street in the spring of 2022. The tender documents have been organized this way to meet current timelines and each phase consists of the same type of work.  

This work includes but not limited to the following: granular base removal, existing asphalt surface removed and repaved and sections of watermain to be removed and replaced, during upgrades contractor to provide temporary water service and sanitary connections to allow work to continue with the existing sanitary sewer main removal and replacement, and sections of stormwater sewer installation. The contractors are being asked to submit your quote for both phases. 

Plans, specifications and tender forms may be obtained from the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, CIA#3 building, Cornwall Island, Ontario, starting June 18th, 2021. Or, make arrangements to obtain via Email: leslie.papineau@akwesasne.ca 

Tenders must be accompanied by a tender deposit payable to the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne as follows: 

  • for First Nations contractors in the form of a certified cheque, bank draft or money order in the amount of 10% of the total tender price to a maximum of $20,000. 
  • for all other contractors as a Bid Bond in an amount equal to 10% of the total tender price.

Evaluation of all tenders will follow the Tendering Policy of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, which is intended to increase the participation of local and other Aboriginal businesses in construction and materials supply contracting.  

Tenders are subject to a formal contract being prepared and executed.  The Council reserves the right to reject any or all tenders and the lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
