REDUCED WATER NOTICE & BOIL WATER ADVISORY IN EFFECT ON KAWEHNO:KE

UPDATE: 5:30 P.M.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS: The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Water/Wastewater Program is notifying residents of Kawehno:ke/Cornwall Island that due to a watermain issue, there is a Reduced Water Notice and Boil Water Advisory in effect until further notice.

While water service has been restored, community members that reside on Kawehno:ke may experience low water pressure.

Residents are asked to please refrain from:
• Using high water demand amenities such as taking showers, washing laundry, etc. for the next few hours. Low usage activities like cooking are still permissible.
• Using the water if it is going to touch your mouth, UNLESS it has been properly boiled and cooled.

Water must be brought to a full boil for at least 1 minute if you are going to use it for drinking, cooking, washing food, and brushing teeth. Do not bathe infants or toddlers in any water, as they may accidentally swallow the water (sponge bathing is recommended during the Boil Water Advisory).

We at the Water/Wastewater Program are working diligently to rectify the unfortunate incident and hope to have the water back to normal in a timely manner. We will notify the community when normal water usage can resume.

If you have any questions please contact the Water and Wastewater Program Manager John Adams at 613-551-7411.
