FISH TRAP-MAKING CLASS

Thompson Island Cultural Camp presents an evening workshop of teaching and making fish traps with ash splints.

The Elders told stories of making fish traps out of willow, alders, and split wood. The ash splints to be used are not of basket-making quality but excellent for making fish traps.

The workshop will be held at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena upstairs in the Turtle Room on March 15, 16 & 17 from 4 – 9 p.m. each evening with a light supper provided.

This event is open to all.  Stop by to visit and watch, or sit down and help build a fish trap.

Sharp knives and hand tools will be used so bring gloves and eye protection.
