THOMPSON ISLAND CULTURAL CAMP AND WHOLISTIC HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM PROVIDE ELDER CARE PACKAGES

On February 7th, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Wholistic Health & Wellness Prevention Program (WHWPP) and the Thompson Island Cultural Camp (TICC) hosted the winter Elder Care Package giveaway at the St. Regis Recreation Center. TICC and WHWPP staff handed out 75 care packages to community elders who registered to receive a bag. Elders who registered received an email or phone call confirmation and were provided with pick-up information.

 

Each bag contained the following:

  • Snipe Clan corn
  • Strawberry drink and raspberry tea (picked and packaged by the TICC summer students)
  • Venison soup
  • Raw honey from Martins Farms
  • Self-care items and information
