TOM PORTER VISITS AND SPEAKS WITH INDIGENOUS STUDENTS AT CCVS

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Department of Health’s Land-Based Healing Program was proud to sponsor a discussion with indigenous high school students at CCVS and renowned speaker and cultural historian, Tom Porter. Mr. Porter spoke to a group of more than 60 students.

Mr. Porter led a discussion about self-identity and self-care using traditional longhouse teachings. He shared his life experiences with heartfelt stories, connecting with the students and staff who were in attendance. Mr. Porter’s discussion with the students was a great success, with a series of return visits being planned for Mr. Porter to CCVS.

Thank you/Niawenhkó:wa to Tom Porter for taking the time to visit with our indigenous students and share your knowledge.
