VOTERS LISTS POSTED FOR SEAWAY CLAIM REFERENDUM

The lists of eligible voters for the St. Lawrence Seaway Claim referendum have been posted at the following locations:

Open Monday – Friday (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

Open Monday – Friday (9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

 

Tsi Snaihne
Iohahi:io Akwesasne Education & Training Institute
Open Monday – Friday (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

 

St. Regis Mohawk Tribe
Akwesasne Cultural Center Library
Open Mondays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Open Tuesday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

 

 

Please check the voters list to ensure that your name is on it. If your name is not on the list in your district, please contact the Chief Electoral Officer Leona Benedict at 613-575-2250 ext. 2406 or 613-551-1622. Community members can also visit the Akwesasne Justice Department (Angus Mitchell Memorial Building) to pick up an application.

 

SECTION 7 (AKWESASNE ELECTION LAW) ELIGIBILITY OF VOTERS

A person who at the time of voting must:

  1. a) have attained eighteen years of age;
  2. b) be a resident in the district where they are voting;
  3. c) be a registered member of the Mohawks of Akwesasne;
  4. d) be an Onkwehonwe.
