AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SEIZE CANNABIS, EDIBLES & PILLS

On December 9, 2019, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Marine Unit (SAVE) was conducting pro-active marine patrols on the St. Lawrence River monitoring boating activity.

At approximately 4:09 PM, a vessel with no identifiable markings was observed entering the Snye Channel. Police attempted to stop the vessel in order to conduct a boat safety inspection.

The vessel and two occupants failed to stop for police and began making maneuvers in a dangerous manner to escape and avoid interception. Police continued to follow the vessel to a landing in Tsi Snaihne (Snye) where both subjects fled on foot. One subject was immediately located and placed under arrest.

Police conducted a search of the vessel and seized the following items:

• 297 packages of THC infused cookies $8,910 (Estimated Street Value)
• 410 packages of assorted THC gummies $16,400 (Estimated Street Value)
• 490 Oxycodene-Percocet Pills $4,900 (Estimated Street Value)
• 37 lbs Cannabis Marihauna $74,000 (Estimated Street Value)


The Akwesasne Mohawk Police charged a 29-year-old male from Akwesasne with Possession of Cannabis over 30 grams, Possession of Illicit Cannabis, Possession for the Purpose of Distribution, Exporting Cannabis, Dangerous Driving, Flight from Police, Obstruct, and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
