IAKHIHSOHTHA LODGE NOTIFIED OF COVID-19 OUTBREAK STATUS

LODGE CLOSING FOR TWO WEEKS

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) would like to inform the community that the Iakhihsohtha Lodge entered into Outbreak Status on September 21, 2022. Two residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

In the event of Outbreak Status under the revised regulations, only the person(s) who tested positive for COVID-19 and their close contacts are required to isolate. This differs from previous Outbreak statuses, which mandated isolation for the entire unit where the COVID-19-positive individual(s) resided in. However, the team at Iakhihsohtha has opted to close the Lodge to visitors to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 to residents and staff. Iakhihsohtha will remain closed to all visitors, with the exception of one designated caregiver per resident, for the next two weeks.

Iakhihsohtha staff will be staying in close communication with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) to ensure the appropriate steps are being taken for the current circumstances.

The Meals on Wheels program, which is operated through Iakhihsohtha, will be provided by Three Feathers Café starting September 22nd until further notice.

The health and safety of our residents and staff remain our utmost priority. Should you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Iakhihsohtha Lodge at 613-575-2507.
