The MCA Department of Health (DOH) would like to remind the community that we need your assistance to slow/stop the spread of COVID-19 by strictly adhering to the public health measures that have been put in place. Please no social gatherings (stay within your own household), and wear a mask when around others. Wash and sanitize hands frequently and maintain six feet of distance from anyone outside your household.

Due to the Omicron variant being highly infectious and transmissible, Ontario has had to adjust its testing strategy. Effective December 31, 2022, Ontario prioritized publicly-funded PCR tests for high-risk groups and settings only. Positive rapid antigen tests would no longer require PCR testing to confirm COVID-19 infection. Any rapid positive test result should be treated as a positive case of COVID-19.  Friday’s case counts will now reflect a WEEKLY total of reported rapid test results. PCR results will continue to be reported daily/as received.

If you’ve received a positive rapid test result, please contact MCA’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 613-575-5005 or 613-575-2331. The EOC will record your positive result and advise on your next course of action.

It is of the utmost importance to get tested for COVID-19 at the onset of any symptoms, regardless of your vaccination status, even if you feel your symptoms are a common cold or allergies. If you’ve been tested for COVID-19, and are awaiting your results, please stay in isolation until you’ve been advised by a healthcare professional.
